Section 1.3 Submissions
During class, you will regularly work on coding activities. Oftentimes, there will be opportunities for you to submit your code or responses. Out of class, you will watch videos and work through short examples, many of which contain student response questions. Here is a sneak-peak at what the different submission boxes for code, responses, etc. will look like, so that you know what to expect:
Subsection 1.3.1 Code Submissions
At the end of coding activities in class, you may be prompted to submit your code. This will be done through a specific in-class response system that we use in class. In case you’d like to keep track of your submissions inside this book we’ll provde text submission boxes of the following form for these purposes. Please note that your submissions will be saved on the particular device you use but will not be visible for anyone else or persist when you switch devices or browsers.
Activity 1.1.
When you are done, please paste your code into the code submission box below.
Sometimes you will be asked for your entire code and other times you may be asked to only paste in a certain piece of it, so be sure to read the prompt closely. And remember, these in-class submissions show your active participation during class and give us a live view into how the class is doing with the material, so be sure to always submit what you have, even if it doesn’t quite work correctly!
Subsection 1.3.2 Text Submissions
In addition to submitting some of your code during class, text responses are sometimes collected as well. For these cases, you will see a very similar submission box as with Code Submissions in class. In case you wish to keep track of your responses here in this book we’ll again provdide submission boxes as before:
Activity 1.2.
Please paste your text submission into the box below.
Subsection 1.3.3 Pre-Class Canvas Quiz Previews
Before each class meeting, there are short Canvas quizzes that are accompanied by Codecasts, videos, and other materials. While these questions must be submitted on Canvas to receive credit, the same questions are shown throughout this book in their respective sections, alongside the relative content. While you are able to type in answers in the question boxes, this is only for your personal reference: you can mark down notes to yourself here for when you answer the Canvas quizzes, but you must submit on Canvas to receive credit. Here is what an example quiz preview question looks like:
Check Your Understanding Check Your Understanding

Where do you need to submit your answers to the Canvas quiz questions, which are previewed in the textbook?
